The primary goal of the Kinship Support Services program is to meet the needs of relative caregivers (primarily grandmothers) so they can effectively provide for the children in their care and avoid placing children in unrelated foster care.
The program focuses on supporting, strengthening, and assisting the caregivers as they work to protect and strengthen the children in their care. When caregivers’ needs are met, they may experience less stress and may have a greater overall sense of well-being.
