Chef Nick Difu Helps Kids Pursue Dreams | Uplift Family Services

Chef/owner Nick Difu of Nick’s Next Door opened up his heart and his restaurant to 76 guests on Sunday, May 21 for a gourmet multi-course dinner. The event was held to raise money for Nick’s Summer Fund, a program that helps underserved kids pursue their passions and broaden their interests. The theme of the event was, “Follow your passion, and success will follow you.”

Over $23,000 was raised—enough money to have at least 90 underserved kids experience summer camp and other programs, which costs approximately $250 per child.

The dinner was co-sponsored by the EMQ Auxiliary, which operates the Butter Paddle in downtown Los Gatos. Special thanks to Caryl Pozos, Sandi Kile, and Doris Beccia as well as all of Difu’s staff who volunteered their time to make the evening special.

A silent auction featured a vacation in Palm Springs, an Oktoberfest party for 14, floral delivery for a year, golf and lunch at Pasatiempo, a weekend in Carmel, and the opportunity to take Uplift Family Services families out to dinner at Nick’s Next Door this fall.

Auction donors were: Nick Difu, Citti’s Florist, Ralph Garcia, Sandi Kile, Judy Horst and Anne Kortlander, The Artifacts Gallery, Robi Bannon, and Joseph George Wine.
