Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a methodology, or framework, that applies scientific interventions to address behavioral needs. ABA facilitates the development of language, social interactions and independent living by applying basic behavioral practices — positive reinforcement, teaching in small steps, prompting, repeated practice, generalization of skills, etc. In addition to building critical skills, ABA can also help reduce both everyday social problems and serious behavior disorders. Hundreds of scientific studies have shown that ABA is the most effective method to teach children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. ABA has been endorsed by the National Institutes of Health and the Association for Science in Autism Treatment and has been identified by the Surgeon General of the United States as the most effective way to treat autism.

We believe that the most successful services for children with special needs are actively knit together in a coherent and integrated system of care. Uplift Family Services works closely with families, primary and specialty care physicians, pediatricians, schools and community agencies to provide and coordinate a continuum of high quality services. Children and families will receive diagnosis, evaluation and treatment from licensed professionals, experienced behavior analysts and highly trained paraprofessionals. Through affiliations and partnerships in the community, we will make informed referrals to critical pediatric specialists such as child neurologists, developmental pediatricians, psychiatrists and other medical specialists. Early diagnosis and intervention during the first years of a child’s life can significantly impact that child’s long-term prognosis, particularly in the areas of language and social behavior. We are committed to helping families throughout California receive the services they need at the earliest point possible.

Our program serves children with ASD and other developmental disabilities and their families at home, school or our clinic.
