Happy Dragon Thrift Shop volunteers celebrated a year of dedication and hard work at their annual luncheon at Forbes Mill Steakhouse on Friday, May 19, 2017. The highlight of the event was the presentation of a bonus check in the amount of $35,000 that will help Uplift Family Services’ children and their families. The check was in addition to the monthly $45,000 donation given to Uplift Family Services.

Arianne Toves, staff member from Uplift Family Services’ Foster Care and Adoption Services, gave a moving speech about her upbringing and the importance of a having a stable adult such as a foster parent in a child’s life.

Happy Dragon board members were acknowledged for their many hours of service. Board members for both the past and upcoming terms are: Phyllis Dieter, Vicki Schnitzer, Linda Svrcek, Billie Jean Sgarlato, Virginia Whitlock, Larry Siegel, Doc Hamilton, and Carolyn Hamilton. Anne Schwarzmann will remain as president of the board.

Judi Coffman, merchandise manager, was honored for her many years of service. Lisa Knowles introduced herself to the crowd and shared her enthusiasm for her new role as membership chair.

The Happy Dragon Thrift Shop is located at 245 West Main Street in Los Gatos and is open Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The thrift shop is known around Los Gatos as a treasure trove of vintage clothing, housewares, jewelry, collectibles and much more! All proceeds benefit the children and families served by Uplift Family Services. Volunteers are always welcome!
